Great Divide
Polaris, MT After several relaxing days off in Missoula, our dear friend and Jr. Ranger, Spencer had arrived. After driving directly from the bay, fresh off a tour as a bicycle guide, we were now a team of 3.

A dreamy one at that..

After dropping a couple dozen pounds off my bike before we left, rolling out of town felt like I was on a whole new machine. Everyone was looking forward to the next climb at Humbug.

Spires is just outside of Butte but we wouldn't reach it without coming across an old railroad bridge that was just begging to be climbed. This was a great warm up for the next day when we would climb the beautiful 5 pitch granite spire. With intense lightning storms surrounding us in every direction somehow we managed to get in the 4 mile approach, top out and descent barely unscathed by any sort of weather. Atop the climb offered some seriously exposed moves high above the tree line overlooking the various spires throughout the park, giving us one of the best views of trip so far.

  • What is your goal for the route? Have a better time on the road then I could have possibly had if I had stayed at home. I was having a pretty good time at home!
