Great Divide
Rooseville, MT Montana reeks of fresh single-track, fly fisherman and freedom that I could smell as far as 10 miles from the border where I became stranded on the side of the road with a broken chain in hand and no tool to fix it. As much as I wanted unveil my soggy passport to border patrol, the motherland wouldn’t allow me such easy access. A local rancher and handyman, Paul, saw the look and desperation in my teary eyes to glide across into big sky country, so he escorted me to his pickup, and quickly repaired my severed chain with a chainsaw file and set of pliers. The U.S. invited us in with welcome arms and the hardest downpour on the trip so far. Missoula was on our minds and it was going to take riding hardly rideable bikes to get us there.
